Oh for f… The latest Snapchat Story/Instagram Story/WhatsApp Status clone has arrived…
Originally launched in 2014 Snapchat lead the way with Stories with over one billion viewed per day by that summer.
In the past year; Facebook owned Instagram launched their own version of Stories, allowing you to post photos to your story for 24 hours and Facebook owned WhatsApp launched their own version of Stories, allowing you to post photos to your story for 24 hours.
Now, Facebook’s Messenger has launched their own version of Stories, allowing you to post photos to your story for 24 hours.
I’m getting a sense of a pattern here *cough* Facebook plagiarizing an idea they never came up with *cough*
Meet Messenger Day
Messenger is the latest application to get a story like feature added to it. So what makes Messenger Day different from the rest and more importantly what makes it different from Snapchat, the Story Saga creator?
At this moment I’m not in a position to compare them. I don’t have access to Messenger Day yet, so I can only speculate from the information Facebook has release. From what I can see you can view people’s stories whilst you’re chatting to them and you can add photos you’ve sent to friends straight to your story so they don’t really disappear like Snapchat in this case as they’re always in your original conversation.
Messenger uses the system it already has for photo taking in Messenger except they can be posted to a story, sorry, ‘Day’. So we’re got filters, we can draw on our images, we can add Emoji and text. Snapchat is the original and I feel the best. They’ve had more time than others to enhance the feature but Instagram is closing in on Snapchat very quickly.
So are you ready for the future?
