A little under six months ago, Elon Musk oficially bought out Twitter for the eye-wattering value of 44 Billion USD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Twitter went wild with people vowing to leave the platform and never come back \u2013 But then, they hit a pretty big issue, pretty quickly \u2013 To what? Facebook is dead at this point and is a friends only platform and well.. I can\u2019t think of any others,
The social media game has a number of famous casualties \u2013 Most notably Bebo and Myspace, and to a degree, Tumblr with the number of times it\u2019s changed hands. Can we resurrect any of them to their former glory?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mastodon gained traction like there was no tomorrow, people vowing it was their new place. I\u2019ve tried Mastodon myself, and ye it\u2019s alright, but it\u2019s no Twitter replacement. Mastodon has great potential, but it\u2019s still some distance from being a full blown Twitter. For one \u2013 Retweets. Mastodon has \u2018Boost\u2019 but it doesn\u2019t serve the same purpose, I can\u2019t leave comments on my \u2018Boost\u2019. For two, there\u2019s an odd split of people having moved to Mastodon and come back to Twitter, or have just stuck to Twitter \u2013 I don\u2019t want to be stuck between two systems :\/<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lists \u2013 On Twitter I have a number of lists, and on those lists are people I\u2019m not following (Why should I see their tweet twice) \u2013 So I have lists, DK, NL, F1 etc etc \u2013 But on Mastodon, I can only create lists of people I actively follow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Finding users also isn\u2019t as easy as it should \u2013 Thanks Elon in part for that..<\/p>\n\n\n
