Amazon’s AWS is causing major sites to be down

Amazon’s AWS error is causing major sites to be unavailable this evening

Amazon’s Web Services, AWS, is having some issues this evening. This is causing some of our favourite websites to have issues loading and in some cases not load. These include, but are not limited to, The Verge, Fitbit, IFTTT and some of Apple’s services. I, however, am not effected as this runs off a 1&1 server!

Amazon’s AWS Status Page

Weirdly though, Amazons own website is not offline, they were however having issues with their own status site earlier on caused by their own error. As mentioned, Apple is having issues thanks to Amazon. Only parts of their services appear to be having issues just now, iCloud Services are hosted on S3 so it is mainly affecting any file services such as the App Store, iCloud Backups and Apple Music.

Some Apple services are also experiencing issues tonight

So what can you do? Well, nothing is the answer (alternatively browse here & my Instagram [1] [2])! You’ll just need to sit tight and watch some of your favourite websites not load for a wee while until Amazon’s AWS comes back fully.

Some sites are loading poorly, others are just point blank not loading

Update 10pm GMT; Some services are starting to come back with sites now being accessible. Error rates have now improved and Amazon states:

S3 object retrieval, listing and deletion are fully recovered now. We are still working to recover normal operations for adding new objects to S3
